Russian President Vladimir Putin has paid an official visit to Finland, where he intends to hold talks with the President of the Scandinavian country, Sauli Niinistö, as reported by RIA News.

It is noted that the talks between these politicians will be held in Savonlinna. After that, they will hold a joint press conference.

Then, Putin and Niinistö plan to go to the museum ship “Saimaa” and Olavinlinna castle, where the reception will take place on behalf of the chairman of the Savonlinna Council of Commissioners, Anna Kristiina Mikkonen.

In the evening, the leaders of the two countries will watch the opera “Iolanta” by Tchaikovsky, performed by artists from the Bolshoi Theater. After watching the opera, the presidents will have a casual conversation.

Earlier, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin did not intend to discuss the issue of sanctions at the meeting with Niinistö.
