A Georgian citizen has dies as a result of a car explosion in the centre of Kiev. According to preliminary data, it was caused by an explosive device that was planted there. This was announced by the press secretary of Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Artem Shevchenko, reports RIA News

“Criminal proceedings have begun under the charge of “first-degree murder”… According to preliminary data, the bomb that exploded was placed in a car” – said Shevchenko.

He also confirmed that the victim – “well-known in criminal circles” – was a Georgian citizen, Timur Mahauri. The victim “had a strong connection with all sorts of Chechen circles” and earlier this year received a suspended sentence for illegal handling of weapons in Ukraine.

According to Shevchenko, Mahauri was in the car with another woman and a child at the time of the explosion. The woman was hospitalised with serious injuries, and the child was not injured.
